True story. We were poor when we were first married as many are. At one time, my husband received a very nice bonus and we went out and purchased a big Spanish Provincial radio-record player combination, (no tv) and thought we really had something. Well, you know where that ended. A big clunky piece of furniture that had no place in our home once we started collecting antiques. Now our home is not filled like a lot of collectors and dealers but I absolutely love and enjoy what we have accumulated over the years. Each piece that is carved, painted, dovetailed carries a story of someone who cared about this one item and means something to us. We hope there are items in the shop that will stand the test of time for you

Meeting Nate Berkus

A very nice young family in Olathe, Kansas were the recipients of a kitchen make over from LG appliances. Nate Berkus was the designer. The Eclectic Co. antique shop were winners also because Nate purchased items for the make over from our shop and also filmed the shop and myself for LG Studio Signature Kitchen which is online at this moment. It was a terrific experience. Enjoyed meeting him and his hard working crew, a few pictured here. Always gratifying to have been selected and also have the merchandise they needed.

This week I had a conversation with a customer who has purchased from our shop a lot. She has just moved and things are in disarray. But she mentioned how she had unpacked a hand carved box that she bought several years ago because she wanted it out to love right away again. That set me thinking about some of my one-of-a-kind pieces. Usually they are handmade, sometimes humble, but there is an irresistible connection that never fails to satisfy.

Vintage?

Antique dealers use the term "vintage" a lot. Of course we all know vintage wine is best. However, think this definition, "Used to describe something that is not new but that is valued because of its good condition and attractive design", works pretty well. And here we have an example of a great "vintage" screen with eight beveled mirrors. Not old, old, but tons of decorative value.

Changing antiques.

The antique business has been changing for a number of years. People are no longer looking to be all "oak", all "deco", or all "walnut Victorian". In many ways, this is good. We so love "Eclectic" and think it is a more interesting way to decorate.  Think of our shop as icing for the bones of your ideas for your home or office. Of course if you are looking for architectural item that might end up being a bigger bone.

Just the Facts.

Regular Hours.
Saturday and Sunday, 11-5.
But wait, that's not very much time.

If we're home, we're open.
We live here too. Most days at least one of us is around.

Best Option.
Call ahead, night before, that morning, days before, all work. Leave a message. We have four buildings and work outside in the yard so don't always hear the phone.

Don't be shy.
We are happy to open up, turn on lights, and peruse. If by chance we aren't your venue that's fine. Maybe you will know someone who is looking for exactly what we have.

Location, location, location.
Although we are in a residential area, The Eclectic Co. is 3 mi. from 69 highway and 10 minutes from 435. Hooray for MapQuest.
